Curriculum Intent Statement
“Belonging, Serving, Succeeding"
"The school prepares pupils to be safe, sensible and respectful young people."

At Banks St. Stephen’s, we believe every child is a precious individual, made in God’s image. From Nursery to Year 6, we provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where all children feel they belong, are encouraged to serve others and are supported to succeed in all areas of life.
Our carefully planned, knowledge-rich curriculum is built around the unique needs of our children and the community of Banks and its surrounding areas. It supports children’s spiritual, emotional and academic development, helping them grow in confidence, curiosity and resilience. Children are taught key knowledge and skills in ways that help them remember and build on their learning over time.
"In several subjects, the curriculum and its delivery benefit greatly from the well-informed expertise of subject leaders and class teachers."

We celebrate the awe and wonder of the world, encourage a love of learning and offer a wide range of experiences—including trips, visitors and outdoor learning—to bring the curriculum to life.
"Pupils enjoy their lessons and have positive attitudes."

Christian values such as compassion, friendship and endurance are at the heart of everything we do, alongside the British values of tolerance, democracy, rule of law and individual liberty. Our curriculum helps children understand themselves, others and the wider world so they are well prepared for life ahead. We want all our pupils to leave us feeling confident, compassionate and ready to make a positive difference.
Pupils enjoy a range of visitors to school and educational trips and benefit from suitable resources that enhance their learning about different faiths, feelings and values. Pupils understand that compassion and respect for difference are shared by many different people.
